Head Coach

If head coach chooses to view the game from the press box, must he designate to the referee an assistant coach who will represent the team as head coach on the sideline?

I do not know if he must designate, but if someone wants to request a timeout from the sideline, they better designate someone. Otherwise they will not get the opportunity to do so. Basically the coach will not be able to yell from the press box for a timeout. ;)

Peace

NFHS 3-5-2-a (note) allows for a Head Coach to designate another coach, for the purpose of calling charged TOs. It advises, "The head coach's designee shall remain in place for the entire game except in case of emergency".

It's worth noting, any and all players are empowered to call charged TOs.
