Bad idea #472 reality TV show

It is of my opinion that this is an extremely bad idea. Do I have any support for this opinion?

Show about 8- and 9--year old football players coming to cable | FOX Sports on MSN

Friday Night Tykes

I think its stupid, but i will watch at first just out of curiosity. I mean they have little kid skating shows, and that dance moms show. It was just a matter of time until they got a sports show.

I thought we already had reality shows about sports, in fact, there's an entire category of them on the TV Guide. It's called "Sports."

Doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. Why do you think it'd be worse than any other serial focusing on sports participants?

because they are 8 and 9.

So? Are they competitive? Even if they're not competitive, kids are adorable. So how can it miss?

I agree with him, it's a bad idea. But I don't think it's worse than any other serial focusing on 8-9 y/o sports participants. I think they're all (ie. Dance Moms) bad ideas. On the other hand, at least we'll get to see more parents living vicariously through children; that's always fun.

Do you expect that to be the focus, or at least a major focus, of the program? In that case, yes, I'd find it dull. I was hoping for a program focusing on the children themselves, and/or on their teams. However, I wouldn't mind a substantial focus on a parent who was also a coach, and more than just a bag holder.

Actually, come to think of it, in the past I tended to find dull the "up close and personal" stuff about competitors of any age, preferring distant & impersonal, I guess.
