The other side of the coin is, if I was issued one of those passes, would that then mean I couldn't leave the team box?
If the coach wants you there, and the site admin doesn't, have the coach talk to the site admin.

Could be a power struggle of sorts.

Or, they could have a valid reason for disallowing it. Have you asked them why?

Doesn't sound like there's much you can do, then. Do the best job you can do within the constraints you're given.

Good luck.

Then just talk to the head coach and wait until the pissing match is over. Plus what CT1 said.

You migh consider, Equinox, that the easiest, smartest and most assured way to avoid being "harassed" by anyone, much less the game officials, is to be discrete and simply stay out of everbody's way.

I can assure you game officials are not looking for you, and when they are not aware of your presence, they won't bother you. If however, you keep pushing the envelope and intruding to where game officials are uncomfortable with your presence, they will notice you and that will present a problem for YOU.

The harsh reality is it's not up to the coach, the school administration or the venue administrator. If you present a safety concern to game officials, you are going to be removed. Remember your Mom's advice, "Yo catch more flies with honey than vinegar".

That is how it has been, and fortunately it hasn't been a problem with any referees.
