post possesion fouls

Team B intercepts the ball on their own 40, after the interception before the ball is dead on team A
15, there are live ball double personal fouls at the A30 on A11 and B64. Where is the spotting of the ball to
offset the penalties?

Fed or NCAA?

Fed- Determine the order of occurrence of the fouls and assess in the order they occurred. Half the distance will come into play for B's foul if they fouled first.

Team B must decline the penalty against A11 in order to keep the ball. 1st and 10 from the A 45.

If B accepts the penalty, the fouls will offset and the down will be replayed.

Yeah, I knew that's what happened. Didn't want to give you too much grief! :)

BTW, welcome Ronnie!

After last night's private school game where I not once but twice pointed the wrong direction on COP plays I deserve it.:o

For completeness sake since you didn't specific what rule set you were looking for:

NFL: It would be Team B's ball on the A30

Exactly, and it's worth emphasizing that A will not have an option here. If B accepts the penalty, the result is a double foul.

I had to talk a decrepit R out of going to the other team for their option in a similar situation during a sub-varsity game last season.

Where's the roll eyes emoticon?

Now tell us the enforcement in the CFL, Rugby Union, and the Australian Football League. :D

Well we did have a person that would post one of these rules sets and no one would even ask for those rules. ;)

Peace

Well, I could go into Rugby Union's handling of the situation comparable to live ball double foul, but the last time I tried combining responses here on comparable rugby & American football situations, the moderator decided to move either the post or the thread.
