Penalty Enforcement

We have to take a crew test here in our state. This was one of the questions.

3rd and 4 from 6. A2 runs to the 3, fumbles into B's end zone. B2 kicks the ball out of the back of the end zone.

Foul during a running play
Basic spot is end of related run (b)
Foul by defense enforce from basic spot
Enforced from the 3 to the 1.5 which is beyond the line to gain
A 1st and goal at the 1.5

Agree. I suspect the point of the question is to push on whether members know that fouls committed in the EZ are penalized by a safety only when committed by the offense. In this case, B remains the defense throughout the down. 8-5-2c

I'll add that the result of the play is a TB, in case the A coach is insane and declines the penalty. 8-5-3c :)

Thanks, Mike, but I had it right the first time. Your "correction" just substituted the definiens for the definiendum. :p

NFHS 2-43-1: "The offense is the team which is in possession of the ball."

Correct. The iffy part was a safety or not.
