NCAA Timing Question

NCAA Rules Timing Question.

Team A has the ball and throws and interception to Team B where they are downed at the 2. Penalty by Team B is accepted (JV game that is what they did).

What is the status of the clock?

Do we run the clock on the RFP or the snap?

Rules reference would help, we were not 100% sure the reasoning.

Also would it matter if the ball was downed in the EZ instead of the 2?

Peace

I checked this after getting home yesterday, Jeff.

It looks like the clock should start on the RFP (A.R. 3-3-2 III). Where the ball was downed doesn't seem to have any impact.

That is what I thought. I just could not find it at first, but I was not looking that hard either.

Doesn't matter in NCAA rules. Ready. No major clock stopper under NCAA rules.

In NFHS rules, the ball became dead behind the goal line, so the subsequent play would start at the snap.

CANADIAN RULING:

Before the 3-minute warning: on the ready. After, on the snap.
