Illegal Participation

62. If A1 accidentally goes out of bounds and returns during the down, it is illegal participation; and a foul during the down and the "all-but-one" enforcement principle is used. (T or F)

I would think that the answer is TRUE after reading the explanations above and the rule book, but if someone can give me the rules reference the would prove me right or wrong I would appreciate it.

Answer is TRUE. Using Rule 10-6-6 which is the All-But-One Principle, the spot of the foul is the basic spot unless it occurs behind the basic spot and then it is enforced from the spot of the foul.

ALL enforcement except as provided in Rule 10-6-5 fall under the all-but-one.

sohl, the diagram on the page below may better help you understand the principle.

Where and when is the camp? Is it open to any official? IS this geared only to ILL officials or all?

My assignor, who happens to be one of my basketball assignors, has put a crew of young guys together. I am a little nervous about that because he told me that he wanted me to be the referee because he thought that I was the smartest of the bunch.

I am in the same situation here, 1st year as R of a young crew (2 rookies, 1 of 4 yrs and my U is of 8 yrs). I have been officiating myself 7 years at HL and BJ. I was given advice of take it SLOW, make sure of each enforcement, and have fun with the games!. Good luck!

Absolutely. That's the best advice. I R'd for the first time last year (varsity) and it is true.

You need to go slow, then slow down, then go a little slower. Then slow down some more.

I think you mean from the basic spot, not the end of the run.
