I will sometimes ask who it was. And then, sometimes, I believe it. ;)

It is with this guy....and you're right, because the coach should know full well that wasn't the correct ruling. There's only a handful of crews that work at this school doing their sub levels, and I know them all and it is well documented. One of the assistants there is a very good official of a few sports and even told me how that whole mess all went down.

I believe he may longer be officiatinbg after he got picked up for his 4th or 5th OWI last year. He's got bigger problems than making some bad calls, and I'm not big on bashing anyone, better yet another official, just hoping he gets his shizzle together before him or someone else end up on the wrong side of the topsoil.

The only "logic" I can think of for allowing it in the tackle box in NCAA is that maybe they felt the runners were not really up to speed yet in that area, like they could be down field. Only a guess on my part.

I think the rule is not up to speed.

There is no such thing as a tackle box in FED, and horsecollar tackles are not allowed anywhere.

TBH, the reason a horse collar tackle is dangerous is that if it occurs while the runner is at high speed, it buckles the knees. At low speed (more likely behind the line inside the tackle box), it's just another tackle.

What is the enforcement of the horse-collar?

CANADIAN RULING:

Enforce the HC from the PLS, 15y+AFD.
