Schiano Suspension
Not sure how many of you have seen this, but I thought it was interesting.
Greg Schiano?s son suspended for remainder of regular season for cursing at official | Prep Rally - Yahoo! Sports As a baseball guy, I am curious to know if that is a normal suspension. While I agree that he needed to be suspended, I think six games may be a little excessive. Ok, quite a bit excessive, thinking more like 1-2 games for being ejected from a contest! Is FL cracking down on profanity? If so, I hope Texas follow suit, cause we sure have some red arses on the diamond! Brent |
That's a ridiculous suspension for this. I'd have a 15 yard penalty here (along with a stern warning to the offending player) and that's it.

I've got no problem with it. If its the FHSAA's guidelines, which the article clearly indicates that it is, then they have followed their regulations.
Your state may be different. |
I can't find the FHSAA policy online, but I did find another article from a baseball game this past March where a player was serving a six week suspension for a Class 2 ejection for swearing at a baseball umpire. It appears that this is not a punishment for just any "ordinary" ejection. Apparently, the FHSAA wants to crack down on swearing at the officials.
In my state, this probably gets a two contest suspension. |
Six is big, but I'd expect there's more to the back story. Maybe it was a problem before. I'll bet this policy makes a big dent in the problem.
