Looks like Unsportsmanlike from my seat and 1 play.

I do not have the NF book at my fingers, but in order for the 1 play sit out rule to be enforced, shouldn't the helmet come off during a live ball situation? Certainly the action is worthy of 15 yds for USC

No, he doesn't have to sit, but his coach might pull him after the USC flag.

The rule does not apply to players who remove their helmet.

Yes, I would bust him for 15 yards. In fact, I suspect my state supervisor would view this as taunting and want the player ejected.

Pretty sure this kid got one play no USC

From here pretty clearly USC, but probably the responsible official said, "You were just taking the helmet off because you were subbing out, right? Not that you would taunt anybody."

I'm assuming you're speaking NCAA. I don't think we'd send him off for a play for that, just flag him for UNS?

The rule is basically the same at the NCAA level. They only sit for a play if their helmet comes off because of play and not a result from a penalty.
