NFL Shoes

Anyone know what nike shoes the NFl guys are wearing?

DaveASA/FED Wed Sep 26, 2012 11:46am

With all that's going on with them do you really want to be in their shoes right now???? :D

HLin NC Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:48pm

I've internet searched but can't find them. Save for the big NIKE on the back and the swoosh, they're fairly plain for Nike standards. I think its something they probably put together and haven't tried to market yet given the change from Reebok

I did find this on another discussion board for umpires-

NFL Referee Shoes - Off-Topic - Umpire-Empire

I've looked at the 1.3's but I don't think the NFL shoes have Nike Air and they sure don't look like they ahve any mesh to them.

When I first saw them, they brought these to mind, only with a white swoosh:

Actually DLH, with turf nubs, you are probably pretty close.

Call Honigs and ask them. They supply the NFL guys with their uniforms.

The white stripe running down the side of NFL official's pants appears to be much wider than Fed regulated pants, or am I wrong?

BktBallRef Mon Oct 01, 2012 04:43pm

No, you're not wrong. Always has been wider.

Anybody know whether they get rid of those stupid knickers with the black stripe down the leg?

APG Mon Oct 01, 2012 04:50pm

Read from Mike Pereira that they've done away with the knickers period.

No knickers in the NFL or in NCAA football now.

I did see an official on Friday night with knickers in his bag. I could only shake my head -- why keep them around? I got rid of mine after the 2010 season.

Canada is still wearing them and I saw a HS crew on tv in Cali wearing them 2 or 3 weeks ago. Wonder if they would like a free care package?u

There is only 1 conference in Canadian college ball still wearing knickers. Most local areas have switched to black pants exclusively or are well into the transforming stage.

Next to go is the 1" stripe. I'd like to see the 1" stripe gone by 2016.

Didn't I see a CFL crew wearing knickers?

Texas Aggie Sun Oct 07, 2012 12:55pm

Looking at a freeze on the Giants/Cleveland game.

It isn't exactly this shoe:

Nike Air Speed Nubby 5/8 - Men's - Baseball - Shoes - Black/White

But, its similar. Newer version and mid to low top. Interestingly, the U is wearing what appears to be the same shoe in all black but no NIKE on the back -- not even in black lettering. The NFL shoes are studded, and look to have some decent support. They are nowhere near what was posted above; they simply look from a distance like Nike's old turf shoes from the early '90s. I had a pair of those and played a lot of softball and flag football in them until my achilles begged for something better.

I brought this thread back up to say that I tried on a pair of these today. We had a clinic and Honigs was there with these. They fit my foot extremely well and others seemed to like them too as there were orange boxes going out all over the place. The sole has some small spikes on them for traction and they look like they will work well for both grass and fieldturf. I think they are at least as comfortable and supportive as the Reebok Magistrate that was out a couple of years ago, but I have yet to try the Zags.
