Had a pre-season TV game last year where I think the female announcer was watching her very first football game ever.

When we brought out the captains for second-half choices, she proclaimed:
"I don't understand why they're having another coin toss."

After a roughing the kicker foul on a punt:
"That's roughing the passer, and will give (the offense) a first down."

They walk among us, folks.

She was just ahead of her time. We don't talk to the captains before the second half now and we still manage to play the second half.

Being an inspector at the polls (called a judge in some states), I sure know how that is with unofficial election results. Also very much this presidential election cycle where many primaries had "beauty contest" candidate preference votes, which are merely advisory, followed or accompanied by binding delegate selection proceedings.
