Syracuse - Northwestern

Syracuse flagged for late hit out of bounds on final NW drive.

Announcer went nuts - not the issue.

The player who was hit was not yet out of bounds when hit. Is there some kind of "Don't hit me and I promise I'll go out of bounds" rule?

Was this a hit on a ball carrier?

Peace

Yes

Kinda a two hand shove - not a big hit if that matters.

Well it would not really matter if it is a hard hit and out of bounds. A little shove that hardly moves anyone would likely not be called. Then again I did not see the play and as you said the replay showed he was not out of bounds. The only other thing I could say was HTBT situation. I was wondering if the hit was possibly illegal like a helmet hit. Maybe APG can show the play.

Peace

Saw it.
Didn't think it was enough for a penalty. Notice the flag came from the referee, not LJ or SJ.

I have seen this a few times now and I was not in love with this call. And if it came from the Referee, then I am really concerned that no one talked him off of that flag from the wings.

Peace

Especially since it was made clear that a UNR call of this nature primarily comes from the wings, even if it's a foul against the quarterback.
