You can't advance a muff can you?

Craziest play from last night's action

Why wasn't this blown dead?

For the same reason why the Towson players tackled him.

You CAN advance a muff; but K cannot advance a KICK they recover beyond the neutral zone. :p

Some possible explanations:

1. The officials were laughing too hard.

2. They saw a player recover the kick and advance and assumed the kid was going the right direction.

Feel free to add more.

K cant advance a kick beyond the neutral zone. But this is a retreat not an advance, dont know of any rules against retreat. However if we consider this a strategic advance to the rear, it should be blown dead. After as said above you stop laughing

No rules against advancing or retreating with a dead ball, other than delay of game. ;)

Who is dumber... the kid that wrong way, or the kids that tried so hard to stop him?

(Or the referee that ran along-side?)

The officials eventually got the play right and gave the ball the kicking team at the spot of recovery.

If that doesn't get a guys Friday morning jump started I don't know what does! Funny stuff!

College Rules.

BTW, the play would have been dead either way as the receiving team player gave a signal that would kill the play either way. ;)

Peace

They walk among us!

Under NCAA rules, as JR said, its an invalid fair catch signal, and the ball is dead where caught or recovered. It doesn't specify which team has to do the recovery, so it should have been shut down.

Instinct just takes over, and I've gone the wrong way a time or two myself. Of course, I think I was in 7th grade the last time it happened!

The officials made a mistake. They're human.

You know this, so what's your point?
