Interlocked blocking

Another one you don't see very often - had it last week. On scoring kick, when the the ball is snapped the guards turned and wrapped their arms around the center's legs, and the tackles wrapped their arms around the guards' waiste. Created a great wall - and drew a flag.

This was a JV game. Talked to the coaches as we were walking off after the game and they said they've checked with crews every week before varsity games and have been told this was okay, as long as the linemen didn't link arms. They weren't surprised that it is a foul and did not complain at all (and we looked it up in the rule book so that they'd know for sure - illegal to "graps or encircle"). I have their varsity team this weekend.

Weird coaches. Since the rules prohibit locking arms, it must be OK to lock arms with legs. Way to go, coach, love your sportsmanship! :(

I'm more disappointed in the officials that allowed this!! Assuming the coach is telling the truth. :D
