Drop kick on Free kick, on 40 or behind it?

Is there any rule governing where the ball has to be kicked from other than behind the spot? Or does the ball have to be kicked from the spot?

Such as when executing a drop kick as a free kick during the kick off... must the ball bounce within a yard or so from the 40... or can it hit anywhere as long as it is behind the 40?

What about place kicking? Must the tee be placed on the 40?

Take a look at 6-1-2.... see if that answers your question.

Says 1 step behind K's free-kick line... got it! Thanks!

Does a drop kick still have to be grounded or touched by R before it can be touched by K?

All free kicks, regardless of method, have to both go ten yards and be grounded before K can legally possess, unless R touches the kick first.

The definition of a drop kick is the ball touching the ground before it is kicked. All the same rules apply with a tee or a punt being used in the appropriate situations.

Peace

Thanks, just confirming my thoughts.
