Illegal Equipment

I wanted to get some feedback on legal/illegal uniform adornments.

Long sleeves worn on 1 arm?

Play cards worn on the belt vs on the wrist/forearm?

NFHS: if the sleeve is not part of the shirt, it's illegal. The card may be worn only on the wrist.

Thx. I did finally find in the NFHS Case Book tonight a ruling concerning the play cards, but I haven't found anything written about the sleeves. The rule itself (1-5-3c) isn't really specific. Have you found this written anywhere?

I believe this is being handled on a state-by-state basis. Some states have ruled the sleeves to be adornments, and thus illegal. Others have ruled that they are protective equipment, and thus legal.

That might be correct. I might have heard that sleeves are illegal from the state and mistaken that for an interp of a NFHS rule. :o

We were told if sleeves have pads in them, they are legal, no pads, illegal.

Look at 1-6-3- where it says c. The following Other Illegal Equipment:
1. Ball-colored helmets, jerseys, patches, exterior arm covers/pads,.

As stated previously- some states are allowing them. Your state may differ.

That rule only prohibits the sleeves if they are ball-colored.
