1st game jitters
Got my first WH tonight. Worked junior high last year and some scrimmages this year.
Question on enforcement of fouls
1st and ten from A30. Run gains 5 yards to A35. A88 holds downfield at A40. Where is penalty enforced from, previous spot, the 35 or the 40?

Since this was a running play (and ABO does not apply), the basic spot is the end of the run. The penalty will be enforced from A's 35-yard line.

It will be 1st and 15 from A's 25-yard line.

Not sure the statement ABO does not apply is accurate. Yes it is a running play,so the basic spot is the end of run. All fouls by A,on running play are enforced from the basic spot,except for fouls that occur behind the basic spot. Since A's foul was beyond the basic spot,enforce from the end of run. Just being a little technical.

If we want to be really pedantic, the bolded portion of the above statement should read: All fouls by A, on a loose ball play or a running play are enforced from the basic spot, except for fouls that occur behind the basic spot.

Correct: All But One does apply, and since this sitch is not the "one," it's enforced from the basic spot.
