I know I already had my turn but here is another one.

During a try, holder K12 has one knee on the ground. Kicker K80 is in position to kick. K12 catches the snap and, with one knee still on the ground, tosses the ball backward to K80, who completes a legal forward pass to eligible receiver K44 in the end zone.

Ruling????

Thumbs down

Ball becomes dead when A12 tosses it to A80 because he has his knee on the ground.

For this to be legal, A12 has to rise off his knee before passing (forward or backward). Rule 4-2-2a Exp.

Wink "legal" play

Please don't confuse my use of the word "legal".

The play you described is totally legal- just that the ball is dead with the player's knee down.

No flag but the try is no good.

It would help if you would mention which rule book is being used. It makes a world of difference. This is a live ball, legal pass in the NFL.

In Canada:

The ball is blown dead when holder K12 tosses the ball. A pass cannot be made while a knee is on the ground. He must raise his knee(s) off the ground before attempting this trick play.
