Pretending to be a runner...a player can be tackled. Otherwise, no.

I had a QB this season that was upset he had been tackled after he got rid of the ball. I warned the opposing team that they should make sure the player is pretending to be a runner with the ball. And, I told the QB if he acted like he had the ball he could be tackled.

Sure enough, when I looked at the tape after the game there was the QB running with both arms in front of him as if he had the ball.

Point is when the action is moving fast sometimes you just miss some things.

I am a big advocate of reviewing tape for officials. Too bad at the high school level we don't get a lot of it.

i am proud that a coach's questions can incite such debate..hahahhaha
