Talking about wind...

Saw a previous thread about windy conditions in a playoff game last week. Anyone seen this before?

Can you say case book play?

Yes, there's a case play to address it but I've never seen it happen before.

Hard to tell from the video (hard to see the ball), but it appears to me that the ball did break the plane of the 50-yard line prior to being blown backwards.

Therefore, it is a live ball, and can be recovered by either K or R (Of course, it's Kick-catching interference if K touches the before it hits the ground, unless no R player is in position to catch the ball).

It is KCI even if no R player is in position to catch the ball provided the ball is in or beyond the neutral zone. But on this play it appears that the ball is coming down behind the neutral zone therefore K could catch the ball without it being a foul.

Haven't seen it - but it is a play we discussed in our pre-game for our wind-aided game last week. Goes 10 yards (which it did), touches the ground (which it did) - in any order - team in possession at the end of the down gets to keep it.

NCAA: it must stay on the R side of the line or be acted upon by something else. I did have a game several years ago where, as HL, I saw a kick cross the line barely (in the air) but when K recovered it, they and the ball were on their side of the 50. R ball.

Our pregame discussion play this past week: K kicks line drive that bounces off R's pads and bounds back toward K's goal line. Mad chase for ball, unintentional bats and kicks (no fouls), and ball ends up behind K's goal line OOB. Ruling?
