U-M vs. Iowa game
I was watching the U-M vs. IA game on ESPN/ABC and noticed that there are some pennant-type flags on the sidelines on white poles. I noticed they seemed to be a few yards behind the downbox and can't figure out what they're for since I can't see where they end. ??Maybe a ball boy?? Any ideas anyone?

Those seem to be for the location so that the team on the field can look for play calls. It has nothing to do with the officials at all. It is something Michigan does with the type of offense they run. They run audibles from the sideline and that appears to be where the team looks to get their signals.
Peace

That is left over from Woody Hayes coached Ohio State. Always had to have a few extra to replace the ones he would break during the game.
