Looking for a specific Down indicator
Anyone know where to find a non-velcro down indicator?
I got one a while back as part of a starter package I purchased, but it seems like all the ones available at Honigs, Purchase Officials, and Get Official all have the adjustable velcro closure. I find the velcro closure gets in the way, and tends to catch the sleeve of my shirt if I'm wearing long sleeves. The down indicator I got from the starter package just had an elastic wrist band that was not adjustable. But it's really comfortable. I just wish I could find another one like it. |
Looks like Honigs has one

Yeah, but I'm not really big on the sweatbands. I think they look goofy. (No offense if any of you guys wear sweatbands. :) )
I'm really looking for a down indicator with a standard-width, elastic band for the wrist (just without the velcro). |
I actually just bought elastic and made my own by sewing two pieces together.

Try Between the Lines officials gear.

They have down indicators available in velcro or sewn. I should also note that BTL has great customer service. I've order from them in the past and they've always been very helpful. Thanks again sbll. |
A number of old-timers around here just use two thick rubber bands put together. I use the sweat band type because they keep the sweat off my hands while I work the middle.

In the early days of football here in the UK back in the mid-80's, we didn't know about officiating supply companies like Honig's, POS, Cliff Keen, etc so we had to make all our own stuff. Example - took me hours to sew some white string onto a plain black baseball cap to make a proper looking football official's cap.
So I have always made my own down markers. That way I get the perfect made-to-measure "Saville Row" fit. Not only the measurement around the wrist but (for me) more importantly, the length of the part that goes around the finger - not too tight that it irritates you, not too loose that it might catch on something or someone. |
officials choice has them too.
