kick off receiving team catches ball in the end zone. r attempts to run out of end zone. tackled before he gets out of end zone. what is the call?
and part 2. is the rule the same for an interception in the end zone - tackled in the end zone attempting to get out and upfield?
thanks

Under NF rules, it's a touchback as soon as the kick breaks the goal line plane. Under NCAA and NFL rules, it's simply a touchback if he's tackled before he gets out of the end zone.

It's a touchback under all three rules codes.

In NHFS, as I see it, that's a touchback.

In Canadian, it's a rouge. (single point.)

thanks for the replies
if that is the case:
why don't the defenders simply wait at the 3 yard line for the tackle
intead of wasting their time tackling in the end zone, when the r team will get it at the 20 anyway.
thanks

If R (B) tries to run out of the EZ with tacklers waiting at the 3-yard line, he's got to be the dumbest kick returner, or defensive back, in history. And it will probably the last time he gets to return kicks, or play football. At least for that coach.
