And you thought your game pay was bad!

They admit that they’re not in the game for the money. They each receive $55 for a high school game and a $6 meal allowance if travel to an assignment occurs during a normal meal time. They ride together to those assignments, with the driver receiving mileage reimbursement, but they’re not paid for their travel time, which can be six hours roundtrip to places like Burlington, and the hours and hours of training also happens on their own time.

Yeh, I am in Colorado as well, other side of the state from these guys, but the pay isn't any better over here...Always glad to see some fellow zebras get some good press!

We generally make $55.00 in this part of Ohio, but no meal allowance or mileage.

The farthest I went this year was about 2.5 hours roundtrip and that was due a lot to rush hour traffic. 6 hours rt would be done only in a playoff game situation where we'd be compensated some more.

Despite the beliefs of many, gold trim is not reserved soley for military veterans. I've yet to see a Federal statute or policy stating such though I have heard of it being the policy of some official's associations.

The flag should not be used as part of a costume or athletic uniform, except that a flag patch may be used on the uniform of military personnel, fireman, policeman and members of patriotic organizations.

Well then there's that, which seems to indicate to me we shouldn't be wearing patches at all but that's not a fight that's worth fighting IMO. :)

I bought the flags on my uniform directly from the American Legion store (their HQ are here in Indy). They made sure I got the right sleeve flag and gave me the one with gold piping even though I never identified myself as a veteran. Based on that I assume it's OK to wear them on our uniforms and use the gold trim.
