Enforcement During OT

OT (KC Tie Breaker) During first possession team A scores. During run, 15 yard face mask against team B. The rule states that the penalty enforcement can be either on the try or succeeding kick-off. Since there is no kick-offs during OT, does team A have to take the penalty on the try or can they take the 15 yards and move team B back to the 40 yard line to start their series?

For the NFHS format, they must take the penalty on the try, since there is no succeeding kick-off (8-2-2, Case Book 8-2-2 SIT. C). Fouls on a try, however, can carry over to the succeeding spot (8-3-5b).

That said, you should ask your state association this question, since your state obviously does not follow the NFHS overtime format. I doubt your state has changed this particular rule for overtime, but it's possible.

Fouls on FG's can carry over too as they specify succeeding spot enforcement.

CANADIAN RULING:

Team A can move their convert attempt to the B-1, or require B to start from A's 50 for B's OT series.
