Another NCAA Rules Question
 
Attended a JUCO game today, which of course uses NCAA rules set. Team trailing 41-13 with just a few seconds left scores a touchdown to make it 41-19. The officials allow them to line up and go for two, which they do with success making the final 41-21. Does the NCAA have a different wording on allowing PATs when the outcome has been decided than the FED does?

just curious... what is the fed ruling that you're talking about?

Pure NCAA rules do not permit the extra point in that scenario. In Texas HS football, there is an exception which does permit it in games between schools which are in a district that uses a positive points tiebreaker when deciding playoff teams. You said this was a JUCO game so maybe that conference has a similar exception.

The try is not attempted unless it effects play-off qualifying.

Were there a few seconds left after they scored the touchdown or before? Score with time on the clock then we're still playing, no time on the clock, we're done.

Rule says try shall not be attempted if it has no affect on the game. I guess they sometimes allow it. Same thing happened last week in Ohio State @ Indiana. IU scored on last play to make it 33-13 and the try made is 33-14.
