One forward pass

NFHS

If a QB drops back for a pass and attempts to throw a forward pass which is batted in the air behind the neutral zone and the QB catches the batted ball, can he then attempt to throw another forward pass from behind the neutral zone? Or would this be considered two forward passes and a penalty?

That would be two forward passes since you consider it forward by it's original direction.

That would be 2 forward passes.

Ordinarily, any passer is prohibited from catching his own pass. But since B touched the pass in flight, any A player may catch it. So you have a complete forward pass. Another may not be thrown during the down.

You might be thinking of the kick rule here, which does not apply to forward passes.

I don't agree with this sentence for football. Where is a player prohibited from catching a pass he threw?

CANADIAN RULING:

If the first pass was forward, this is an Illegal Forward Pass - second forward pass during a play. DG L10, DR. DNG, LB PBD.
