Honestly, I would check with your local jurisdiction. This is not covered and I have heard of officials allowing such a thing in certain areas that I have officiated.
Peace

Any player wearing an ankle monitor, you don't want to get on the bad side of!

Seriously? Under what article and section are ankle monitors covered?

In NC, if the kid is wearing it due to the commission of a felony, he's not going to be playing anyway. As for misdemeanor's, I can't recall if the state has a policy regarding student participation or if it is up to the local district.

1-3 d and e: Illegal equipment:
d ...Any other hard substance across the front of the leg are covered with at least ½ inch of closed-cell, slow-recovery rubber or other material of the same minimum thickness and having similar physical properties. e. Metal which is projecting or other hard substance on clothes or person. |

Working in Omaha, I've seen quite a few kids with these on. We've followed 1-3 d and e, just have them pad it up. Some of the kids would not only have it padded, but wear two or three socks over it. What shocked the hell out of me once, when working a JV game, one defense had half the players wearing an ankle monitor. YIKES!
