Officiating Football will be a 1st for me this year but look forward to it. Texas is a state which loves its football and can expect some drama during the season. Will have to learn the ropes from the bottom up. Hope you could help me along the way.

Start asking away. I and a few others on here work in Texas so we're already familiar with the rules (NCAA) and customs. Read the other forums that talk about Fed rules -- you'll get play situations that can happen anywhere, and you'll learn to check the NCAA book for the correct ruling in Texas which is a great way to learn.

Work every game you can get your hands on. My first few years, I probably worked as many games for free, as I got paid for. I would just ask if I could come along and work for free. Nobody ever said no. I got invaluable experience.
