I almost feel stupid for asking this.
When a referee is declaring possesion of the ball, Which way does he point?
Again I have only officiated in Rec league and ive seen them do both lol. So I have to ask the pros. Ex. After K kicks off the ball both K and R fall on the ball at almost simultaneous times. The Referee rushes over and clears everyone off the ball and rules that it is R's ball. Which way does he point?

He points in the direction that the ball will be going. In this case, when R recovers he will point towards K, since R will be going in that direction. And until you asked, that never seemed strange, but I guess I can see your questioning it.

When you point, you are giving Signal S8 to indicate a first down, so you give it in the direction that the team with the new 1st down are going.
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.......
