offensive pass interference

Fed...Forward pass is underthrown. Defensive back is in position to intercept. the offensive receiver, who is quite a bit taller, goes over the back of the db and makes significant contact in an effort to catch the ball. Neither makes the catch and the ball falls to the ground. I felt there was a case for opi but my referee said that as long as either was going for the ball, regardless of the contact, it was simply an incomplete pass. your thoughts, please.

If the defensive player had position, the offensive player cannot go through him just because he is making a play on the ball. Given that I would have to see the play to say it was interference.

Not when one player's obvious advantage is negated by the opponent. You were correct.

Tell your R to worry about the QB and let you handle the OPI/DPI.
