Looks like that product might be worth trying on knickers.
But as far as socks go, I don't try that hard. A normal wash usually does the trick. And I just replace them as necessary if they start to get a bit dingy. I only go through 1 or 2 pair a year. I ususally find that the white stripes get dingy quicker than the lower portion.
