Need a new watch
 

The watch I've been wearing for the last few years has worked well, but I want something with more functionality for football. So, I'm asking what you guys have and like.

Here's a wish list:

-- countdown timer that's easily set or one with programmable presets
-- start/stop button needs to be the same, but reset button must NOT be one of the two
-- reset button requires holding in (don't like to accidentally reset time during a game, which happens with my timex)
-- comfortable band -- my timex has the silky one with the velcro on it, which I'd like to stay with if possible
-- vibration would be nice but not an absolute requirement
-- BIG numbers that show up in dim light
-- solar and atomic would be asking too much, I suppose, but would be nice

I don't care at all about the stopwatch feature or how many laps it has. Countdown is my primary interest. And, no, I'm not wearing my dad's gold and diamond Rolex on the field so don't bother with that suggestion. I would, but I don't want the diamond glare to call attention to myself when I wind the clock.

I know Grant has recommended the Casio RFT100 watch. It's designed for sports officials and has the following features:

Check how a Casio sits on your wrist though. I have one and thought it was good (as U I only needed the timeout count).
When I moved back to BJ for a game I found out that when my wrist flexed in a particular way it pushed the watch against my forarm and hit the reset button. I can't get used to wearing it on the other arm, so I have bought a different watch as well...

If the reset is not a hold in for a few seconds to do the reset, I'm not interested. A watch is flawed if you can reset it just by pushing a button quickly. That's the problem you have with the arm.

I'm debating loaning an atomic watch to the clock operator that starts the clock an hour before kickoff. We radio guys don't like games that start five minutes early when we have one more commercial break to get in.

Anyone have a link on where I can purchase this watch? I found it on Casio's web site but when I go to the purchase items web site it is not listed. :(

I think it is available through Amazon.com.

If you type "Casio RFT100" into google you'll get a list of options of stores. It's the first link if I remember right.

I have a Casio G-Shock (model #?). I like it because it has the count down timer, good for either game clock or 25 sec RFP whichever you need. I also use the stopwatch to time timeouts and halftime. The buttons are shrouded to keep from bumping them, I have to use my nail to start/stop them. Never had a problem. Now on your wish list you wanted large numbers,well, the numbers are not real large but there is a backlight button that makes them easy to see. This is my second Casio, the first one was not strong enough to withstand my daughters car backing over it. All and all I really like them.

As Jim said, I have the RFT100 and love it. It has preprogrammed timers in it, a vibrating feature, and a countdown timer. I got it cheap, but the place that I got it from doesn't carry it anymore.
