Are the officials from the super bowl not permitted to be in the top 3 the next year, or just precluded from the super bowl? If the latter, I think Corrente might turn up on Sunday.

I have a feeling it's going to be Hochuli on Feb. 3. Just a hunch.

I've been an 85 fan for almost a decade now. A few years ago, before the newest bunch of excellent Referees have made their way up, I heard that "every year, it was Hochuli's to lose." :)

Personally, I think R 14 Ron Winter is long overdue for a high-profile playoff game. I've seen him in person and when seeing him on TV, I don't ever recall an issue with his game mgmt or call selection.

He's ok for . . . a lawyer.

Just seems fitting that the league's most visible ref should get the game in his hometown.

Not that the selection works that way. It just seems to fit is all.

Kinda odd to use "fit" when talking about Hochuli. :p

Interestingly, once again this year 2 of the 3 best Rs did not have one of the top 8 crews. Same with 2 of the top 3 Us.

if you dont see 85 this weekend, I think you'll see him in the big game. If you don't see 94 it'll be him.

You won't see 85 in the Super Bowl. But you aren't far off with your other prediction.

So in looking at this weekend's crew for the New England game, you have four members of Triplette's crew on there, yet the crew itself was not in the top 8. Pretty interesting. Kind of goes to show how a few bad marks for some of the guys on the crew can bring its overall rating down.

The crew was in the top 8. The other three crew members worked the Jax/Pit playoff game.

Ahh -- I see. I had it backwards. His crew was so good that 4 of the 7 got removed for the division game.

Congrats to our local NFL official for working HL in the Chargers/Patriots game. I think this was his third playoff game. Way to go Steve.
