Taping Cleats and wearing shoe covers.. Illegal or not?
Hey there fellas...
Just had a question... We're out in Northern California and we're told that taped cleats and shoe covers (spat wraps) are not allowed. I had a ref tell one of my kids to pull the tape off... he had the "traditional" ankle wrap... Legal or not? thanx in advance |
There's nothing in the rules prohibiting spats or taped ankles. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do on game day if an official requests that you remove these items.
|
that's totally over officious if you ask a player to remove ankle supporting tape.
|
My question is, what advantage would a player gain by doing this? Absolutely none, so let it be.
|
The answer I received was that "the shoe covers are made of nylon and could cause a "burn" when tackling the player wearing them"
WOW! lol.. jerseys and football pants are made of nylon and/or contain plenty of nylon... are we gonna have to go cotton! But yeah I see no problem or added advantage in wearing spats or even taping shoes / ankles. |
