Louisville vs UCONN game
Lots of ugliness in this game
- Invalid fair catch signal resulting in a TD, - Punt appears to touch B, A recovers, ref gives ball to B at S.O.F.T.. these guys should be playing playing golf next Saturday! Been away from the ref game for a few years, glad to see not a whole lot has changed! Tim |

On the punt,,,I think the kicking team touched the ball first. But, again, silence here is telling. |

Looked like a clear invalid fair catch signal to me. It was invalid but still has the effect of the valid one in that ball should be dead when possessed. Maybe we will hear from Big East this week as there will be considerable media play on this. Replay rules do not specifically cover fair catches but 1 category of reviewable plays seems applicable: "A runner judged not to be down by rule"

Help me out here, in a 7 man game B, has receiver, F and/or S has blockers in front of ball and amongst other things, the receiver, to make sure receiver doesn't block after a valid/invalid signal, right?
Proper call should have been, dead ball at spot of recovery, 5 yds for invalid signal and 5 yd delay of game? |

Most are working on Fridya night. Most will not see a Friday night TV game. I guess we're supposed to reply anyway?

NCAA: There is no foul for an invalid FC signal. Is this a delay of game foul by B? Technically, yes (6-5-2). However in practice, this covering official should almost never have a flag for this as he should be clearly killing the play after the catch/recovery.

So what should have happened? |

Someone should have seen the invalid FC signal and that someone should have blown a whistle as soon as he saw the returner had possession. If the returner had continued to try to advance (even though ball was dead), ball should be taken to where he took possession and the receivers penalized 5 yards from there for delay of game.
