Question

What timming
At our friday night pre game the coach said he might use a play he saw ten years ago where on a free kick the kicker runs falls intentionally and while his team laughs and distracts team R another player kicks onsides.
My first and only reaction was illegal play but I could not convience the rest of my crew even with the casebook. Tell me what you think guys.

Two words. BUSH LEAGUE!!! I would have a big old yellow flag on the ground for an unsportsmanlike, for making a travesty of the game.

Yes, it's illegal. Any action or verbage used to deceive B or R into thinking that the ball is not about to become live is USC.

Be sure to introduce your crew to 9.5.1b.

Coach that is a wonderful play and if you run it expect a fifteen yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Such a play makes a travesty of the sport and is in direct conflict with the aim of sportsmanship we are here to instill in these fine young men.

If this was a comedy show it would be allowed. But it is not.

With that, you may chose to run the play at your own risk.
