CLE/PIT Ball Spot

I just had to share this funny observation from last night's game.

Cleveland is driving near the end of the first half. They completed a pass over the middle with about 15 seconds left and the receiver was tackled out near the numbers. As he's trying to get up and get the ball to the official, the OL has moved down field and is lined up ready when the U gets the ball to the middle of the field. I noticed the OL was about a yard ahead of where the wing official had correctly marked the spot.

Rather than stop the clock to correct the spot, the wing official on the far side of the field simply took a quick big step to his right as the ball was snapped so he was lined up with the ball. I'm sure most fans didn't notice at all but as a wing official I got a big chuckle out of it.

Cleveland ended up attempting a 40-yard field goal (would have been 41 without the spot) and missed it anyway.
