NCAA Dead Ball Foul Question

A1 1st and 10 on B20. A pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown by B. After the interception for touchdown:

1. Dead ball, USC on B1, AND
2. Dead ball, USC on B2.

Enforcement? (And/or choices by A?)

Just to make sure, you have a pair if dead ball UC fouls, not dead ball personal fouls.

UC fouls would be penalized from the succeeding spot and that means on the TRY down.

And in NCAA, if they were PF's they could be tacked on to the try OR the KO.

What if there is USC on B1 and DBPF on B2?

JasonTX Tue Dec 05, 2006 03:40pm

Are you guys certain that the UC's cannot be enforced on the succeeding kickoff. Check out 10-2-2-g-3: When a foul(s) occurs after a touchdown and before the ball is ready for play on the try or there was a live ball foul penalized as a dead ball foul on the touchdown play, enforcement is on the try or the succeeding kickoff. The captain of the offended team has the choice.

The question now becomes, can you enforce one on the try and then the other on the kickoff?

Theisey Tue Dec 05, 2006 05:15pm

I do believe you are correct JasonTX. Not sure what I was thinking.

I also think a team could mix or match the enforcement spots as well.

So am I correct in assuming that in my OP, A could elect to have both of B's USC's enforced on the kick-off, resulting in B kicking off from the B12.5?

That is correct.

Thank you.

12.5 in Texas HS (40 YL KO), but 10 in college (35 YL KO).

Right. I mis-typed. I was in fact looking for the NCAA enforcement. Thank you again.
