Nfl - Dpi?

Question - Is there a pro philosophy that the defender can get into the offensive receiver a second early? It just seems like its not being called this year. If this considered marginal contact?

Honestly - just curious from a fans perspective. Ive seen quite a few of these passed on. Is this more considered "breaking the play up"?

No, but if it is bang, bang, and they are both going for the ball, you will have no foul. It is a totally difference situation if the defender is "playing thru the back" of the receiver and contacts him early. That one is called pretty tight usually.

I am certainly not a football guy and I am guessing this is a tough play but Ive seen quite a few where the defender comes thru the receiver's back or side to a no call. Thats why I was wondering if there was a philosophy that allowed this depending on the timing of the hit.

What do I know though, it's easy to call from Tivo.

Thanks
