numbering

had a situation Friday night!
#61 has been playing tackle during the 1st series. As A gets in the red zone
all of a sudden #61 has a 2nd jersey over his. He is now wearing # 31.
It was a old ragedy jersey.
Is this legal?

Yes, if the #31 jersey is legal. There is no rule as to how many jerseys a player can wear or how old a jersey may be.

Give it to the number he is wearing and get a name for reporting. Ultimately, you will be reporting the name if he gets the heave ho later.

Only the NCAA has restrictions on the wearing of multiple jerseys during a game.

That's actually a different rule. 1-4-4-e addresses the wearing of multiple game jerseys during the game.

REPLY: You're right...we were talking about two different things. You were addressing the issue of wearing one jersey over another; I was addressing the wearing of multiple numbers at different times in the game.
