Does everyone take pride in what they look like while officiating? I've been to several Varsity games to watch "experienced" officals work and have been totally Blown away by their appearence. Some have had Dirty Socks, Unshined Shoes, Dingy Knickers, and Dirty Hats. What are new officials suppose to do when all you hear is be professional and "LOOK LIKE AN OFFICIAL" at all times while you are working.

As in any walk of life, there are those who do not take pride in their appearance. It's unfortunate that they are many not as exuberant about the avocation or simply don't see the need. It really falls on the crew cheif to set the standard and the rest of the crew to conform and pressure those who are lax in this or any other area.

What are you supposed to do? You can either do what's right or fall into the same trap that others have.

It's up to you.

I agree. I think we should take pride in the way we look from hiding those tucked in stripes to making sure your shoes are shined regardless if your on a HS game or a Pop Warner game. I see a lot of guys out there wearing shorts and regular socks on these Pop Warner games which looks real bad. As Andre Agassi would say, "Image is everything!"
