Free Kick - First Touching Questions
 

NFHS - Please let me know if I am correct that in the following there is no first touching and no kick catching interference.

On kick-off, K lays the ball on the ground and kicks it so that it rolls oblong toward R's line. The ball has rolled seven yards untouched and it still rolling when:

SIT A: R8 is blocked away from the play so that he is not able to field the ball, which subsequently rolls three more yards (for a total of ten) and is recovered by K.

SIT B: R8, apparently planning to field the ball but, is blocked to the ground where he lays prone with a K player on top of him as the ball rolls into him and is then recovered by K before the ball goes ten yards.

SIT C: R8, bent like a shortshop fielding a grounder, has the ball roll into his hands and at the "exact" instance the ball touches his hands is hit by K and the ball is then recovered by K before it goes ten yards.

All 3 situations look good to me. In #2 I was a little on the fence with this one. I'm assuming that K blocked the player and fell on top of the player, vs. holding him to the ground.

You can't have KCI after a ball touches the ground.

Correct... not a holding situation.
