Angry Can a Running Back get sacked.

I just got screwed in my fantasy league. It cost me a game. Thomas Jones had a rushing attempt removed. The Play: Jones was pitched the ball and went around end he looked down field to throw the ball, no one was open so he tucked the ball and ran for -1 yards. They called this a sack but I've never heard of a running back getting sacked. Can anyone show me a precident for this ruling.

Tackled attempting to pass. That's what a sack is.

Jones was tackled attempting to pass. If he'd made it back to the line of scrimmage (or beyond it, can't remember which), he wouldn't have been "credited" with having been sacked.

Though he's a running back, he was a passer on the play. He'd have also had roughing the passer protection had he thrown the ball and someone come along and decked him.

Ah there it is. I was wondering when we'd get our first post from a first-time poster complaining to the masses that his fantasy team was screwed and wanting us to appease his misery.

Took longer than last year, I believe.

The only way any player becomes a "passer" is if they throw a forward pass, at least in NFHS. I don't know how the NFL/Fantasy stat rule set, however...

When the player who is supposed to become the passer gets sacked, the yardage is negative to the passing yardage under NFL Fantasy stats.

And yet, he can still be "tackled attempting to pass," even if he doesn't become a "passer" for the purpose of the rule on roughing said passer.

Because he was....wait for it...tackled...while....attempting....to pass.
