New NCAA timing rules

Apparently they shaved about 18 plays off the game, on average in the first weekend.

And some folks are apparently up in arms about that, feeling they're getting shortchanged:

Please shut up. Less is more. Teams will eventually adjust. You're not missing much.

Our college game this past Saturday was 47-0, I don't think that if we gave them 18 more plays the losing team would have scored 47 points, but I may be wrong!

The link is funny, and in my opinion they can submit a million requests and it will not and should not change the rule. The length of college games is ridiculous. NCAA and NFL are money generating machines for the networks and and colleges and thats all that matters. I have a JC games this saturday and I am anxious to see what the total length of the game ends up being. Last season they were running 3+ hours.

It always amazed me that HS can have a 15/20 minute halftimes, college has 20 minute halftimes and the NFL has 12 minute halftimes. I think they should just scrap the new timing rules and just keep the clock running on first downs. I think we would get the same result in the time and plays reduced without all the confusion.
