Thumbs down Go Tigers

I just got done watching this movie for the first time, and I have to say that for the first time I'm ashamed to say I'm from Massillon. I always knew that all they cared about was football, but when I left I was kinda proud of it's history. Now that I've seen the movie I'm reminded of everything I didn't like about it when I was living there. I was especially disappointed (not surprised) by the fact that they hold kids back in 8th grade to give them another year of eligibility of football. I know it's the parents that do it, but the coaches help. I'm sure other schools do this kind of thing, but it just reminded me of everything I don't like about HS football.

Movie name?

Could you let us in on what movie you are talking about? I am assuming you are talking about Friday Night Lights, but I have never seen that movie or read the book the movie was based on.

Peace

The movie is called Go Tigers. It's a documentary about the Massillon Tigers in Massillon Ohio. It basically goes through the 1999 season and follows around 3 or 4 players.

Go Tigers

I met some folks from Ohio last week while at Myrtle Beach and they kind of clued me in on some of the shenanigans. It apparently goes way deeper than holding kids back in Jr. high.

Wasn't Paul Brown from Massillon?

Massillon, Canton McKinley, Cleveland St. Ignatius, Cleveland Benedictine, Lakewood St. Edwards. All are powerhouses and all are suspect in terms of their ethics. NE Ohio is still one of the hotbeds of HS football. But, it has its problems.

I have never heard of the movie before. Where did you see it, video Tape, DVD or movie Channel on TV? It sounds like an interesting movie.

Peace

I bought it off Ebay for $12. It's not a bad movie, it just shows some things that go on off the field. Some people from Massillon are Paul Brown, Earl Bruce, Chris Spielman, and a couple other famous Notre Dame guys. I think one of the 4 hourseman is from there. Also, Justin Zwick (QB Ohio State) played there too.
