CCA Manual v. NFHS

I am in my 4th year of HS Varsity officiating and am trying to get into a local D3 conference next year (07) and I Also am bringing my dad into football officiating this year and want to get a book about mechanics. I have a basketball one from Referee magazine and really enjoyed it and I was wondering for those college guys out there is if there is a lot of difference in the 5man crew for CCA and NFHS? In other words do you think it would be beneficial to get the CCA and would I recieve any flack from others if my crew started using "different" mechanics? Thanks!

If you do get into D3 level NCAA ball, are you sure they use 5-man mechanics?
The progression over the years has been from 5 to 6 and in many conferences they are now using 7 man mechanics at this level.

Don't waste you ca$h on a 5-man mechanics manual when your possible assigments might actually be for 6 or 7-man. Check it out first, then buy that manual.

To answer your question, yes, there are differences and I wouldn't advise using ncaa methods while the rest are using nfhs methods even if similar.

Yeah most they are currently moving from 6 to 7 this coming year, getting younger guys some more chances (I'm 22). Does anyone even use 5 man mechanics in NCAA anymore, except maybe a D3 JV game(I'm not sure, I've never been to one but have a cousin that plays JV right now in college)? The only reason I really wondered about any big difference is the $12-15 difference in price (yes I am a cheapskate !)

Haven't worked NCAA 5-man in at least 5 years, maybe longer. I'm located in the east and even with junior college and D3-JV games, my area has been working 6-man.
Can't even locate my old 5-man book.
Never much paid any attention to NF 5-man as we still work 4-man games here.
