NCAA Rule Foul by B on Touchdown for A
Another official and I were discussing this:
NCAA Rules On a scoring down for A (touchdown), B fouls. I believe that in NCAA rules, A gets the option of declining the penalty, or they can keep the score and enforce the penalty on the try, OR they can keep the score and eforce the penalty on the kickoff. Am I correct? |
REPLY: For NCAA, personal-foul penalties for fouls by opponents of the scoring team during a down that ends in a touchdown are penalized on the try or the succeeding kickoff. The captain of the offended team has the choice. Also, when a foul(s) occurs after a touchdown and before the ball is ready for play on the try or there was a live-ball foul penalized as a deadball foul (such as a live ball USC), on the touchdown play, enforcement is on the try or the succeeding kickoff. Again, the captain of the offended team has the choice.

Thanks
Thanks for the response Bob M. I didn't realize there had to be a personal foul or dead-ball foul stipulation. Always learning...
