A 1-10 @ A40. A12 drops back to pass and scrambles around. While A12 scrambles LT A77 goes 5 yards downfield. He looks around and realizes that he is downfield. He runs back behind the LOS. After he returns behind the LOS A12 throw a TD strike to A81. Ruling:

Lightbulb Canadian Ruling

That's A-OK with me.

Edit: In our game, this foul rarely happens. When it does, its effect on the play is usually near-zero. But by definition, it is a foul. I suppose if you see a LB covering him, leaving nearby A81 open, you might flag it.

NF and NCAA: foul.
Where you are when a pass is thrown is the obvious call, but it matters where you once had been that also counts. 5 yards down field is beyond the legal limits for ineligibles.
